I needed a Dalish elf to round out my set of 6 origins, already had 2 rogues, 2 warriors and a circle mage. Dalish Elves do canonically have mages (sure, that gets yanked around all over as to whether they are respected and trained for eventual Keeper status or tossed to the forest or attacked by Templars or traded around to clans) but whatever, they do HAVE them.
